The winner of the “Best Africa Act” at the 2016 MTV EMAs has been announced.
The announcement was done via the MTV Base Africa twitter page ahead of the show which is happening tonight.
StarBoy Wizkid emerged the winner of the award beating out Olamide, Black Coffee, Cassper Nyovest and Alikiba.
He muscled South African acts such as Black Coffee, Cassper Nyovest, his Nigerian counterpart, Olamide and Ali Kiba of Tanzania.
This is after previously winning three honours, Artist of the Year, Best Male and Best Collaboration awards at the recently held 2016 MTV Africa Music Awards.
He also won the Best African Act at MOBO Awards 2016. Basically, this has been the artiste’s breakout year.

Wizkid was able to stamp his foot firmly on the ground as an international music star after scoring top quality collaborations with Canadian rapper, Drake in the song ‘One Dance’ which also had Kyla on.
The songster also did a song with British act, Tinie Tempah in the song ‘Mamacita’.
These were highly regarded songs among the fans, and they no doubt help put Wizkid in the mind of not just Nigerian fans, but international music lovers as well.
At the pace at which he is going, the singer is fast building his potential and a reputation of being one of the most sought after African artiste.
